Angelina Jolie accused former husband Brad Pitt of choking one of their children during a flight in 2016, according to a submitted complaint in their ongoing legal battle. Jolie faces a lawsuit from Pitt over the sale of her half of a winery the two used to own in the south of France. Jolie maintains that she was under no obligation to agree with Pitt who to sell the winery to and talks between the two broke down some years ago.
In her 17-page complaint Jolie alleges Pitt verbally and physically abused the family on a flight in September 2016.
“Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying,” the complaint said.
“At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children. After many tense hours, Pitt finally fell asleep.”
No criminal charges have been filed against Pitt for these alleged actions, despite the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI investigating him in November 2016.
How has Pitt responded?
A source from Pitt’s camp told the BBC that the claims were false.
“She continues to rehash, revise and reimagine her description of an event that happened six years ago by adding completely untrue information each time she fails to get what she wants,” said the source. “Her story is constantly evolving.”
