What is Donald Trump expected to announce in his interview with Elon Musk?
Donald Trump will sit down with Elon Musk for an interview on X on Monday night. What topics will be covered?
On Monday night, Elon Musk will interview Donald Trump on X, formally known as Twitter. Musk has endorsed Donald Trump, causing the former president to revise his position on electric cars, now stating that his preference for gas powered vehicles but noting that those who want to purchase an EV should have the option.
The highly anticipated virtual event begins at 8 pm ET and can be watched on the platform.
The appearance by the GOP nominee follows a series of interviews of other candidates that challenged the former President for the spot on the top of the Republican ticket, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Gov. DeSantis announced his candidacy during his interview with Musk, but the event was widely seen as a failure because there was no video, and it was riddled with technical glitches.

The topics on the agenda
Very little is known about what Donald Trump is expected to announce during his one-on-one with Musk. As Musk has endorsed the former president, many of the questions are likely to be softballs, asked to give the former president a chance to shine and soak up some attention after the media has been hyperfocused on the Harris-Walz campaign. Musk posted on X that the interview would be “unscripted” and that there would be “no limits on the subject matter.” He encouraged X users to post their questions and comments in the live chat that will be running during the event.
Listeners can expect him to attack the Democratic presidential ticket, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The Republicans have yet to develop a cohesive and conniving line of attack to attract moderate and independent voters to their campaign.
The former president is also likely to undermine the legitimacy of Kamala Harris’ candidacy, as the Democrats are set to hold their convention later this week. Donald Trump has defended Joseph Biden’s presumed right to run in 2024, calling the effort to encourage him to step down by high-level party leaders a “coup.”
In terms of policy, Donald Trump is likely to discuss the economy and the border, issues on which he feels his campaign has an advantage. Whether or not he will unveil new policies remains to be seen.
