What is the best way to reheat Thanksgiving leftovers?

The day after Thanksgiving demands the using up of everything not used on the last Thursday of November and there are plenty of ways to do so.

With the wealth of food cooked over Thanksgiving, it is more than likely you have some stuff left over. Just like Christmas, judging the appetites of many people is borderline impossible but that is unlikely to be a problem because of what is usually in the oven.

Your classic Thanksgiving meal is usually centered around a turkey, but you didn’t need an Englishman to tell you that. Like a good toolbox, a turkey can be utilised in multiple ways the day after a big Thanksgiving bash.

Thanksgiving 2023:

To reheat turkey in the oven pop some sliced turkey with a liquid of your choice, hopefully some gravy, in a dish at 350ºF (175ºC) for 30 minutes or so. A danger with reheating meat is that it can dry out (danger being relative). To avoid this you can cover the turkey with some tin foil to prevent the moisture evaporating.

Alernatively, turkey can be left cold. A good turkey sandwich with a dash of stuffing is a perfect accompaniment to a nice country walk on Black Friday. Ignore the shopping rush, return to the countryside.

What about some other Thanksgiving staples?

Gravy can look quite grim the day after Thanksgiving as it may have congealed into a jelly. If its simmering on a low heat then it will return to its liquid form with a good amount of stirring. Alternatively a microwave will return it to something edible in 30-seconds or so.

Stuffing is another item that is easy to reheat. Heating at the same temperature as the turkey, 350ºF (175ºC), 40 minutes is required to make it crispy again. Alternatively you can use a microwave for a couple of minutes or on a hob, fried for 5 minutes turning regularly.
