On Monday, April 15, some 30,000 runners from around the world will be joining the Boston Marathon’s 128th edition. The course begins in the town of Hopkinton, west of Boston, and follows a point-to-point route through several cities and towns, including Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton, and Brookline, before finishing in downtown Boston near Copley Square.
This competition is famous for its challenging route, particularly the infamous “Heartbreak Hill” in Newton, which runners encounter around the 20-mile mark. Despite the difficulty of the course, the marathon is known for producing fast times and has been the site of many memorable racing performances.
