The most expensive house in US history is located in Naples, in the state of Florida. This mansion has been listed for sale at a hefty $295 million.

The house with the biggest price tag in the US is located in the luxury neighborhood of Port Royal in Naples, Florida. The property is known as Gordon Pointe, a home that has private access to a white sand beach. As described by The Wall Street Journal, it is a tropical retreat on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.

It is the most expensive house in US history, valued at $295 million. The property is distributed in six plots where new houses can be built. The heirs put it up for sale after the death of its owners, John and Rhodora Donahue.

Possible record-setting sale

If this sale of the house were to finally take place, it would surpass the previous record set in 2019 by billionaire Ken Griffin, who spent nearly $240 million for a penthouse in a building found in Billionaires’ Row, Manhattan, at 220 Central Park.

The complex is made up of three houses. The main house spans approximately 11,500 square feet distributed in six rooms and an indoor pool. The second residence has five bedrooms and an open pool, while the third of the mansions, built in 2013, also has an outdoor pool and a dock with capacity for six boats.

Who owns the most expensive house in the US?

The residential complex belongs to the heirs of an American financial investor named John Donahue, who bought the land for only one million dollars in 1985. He is the founder of the investment banking company now known as Federated Hermes.

He first bought 4.3 acres of the property, which he and his wife expanded to a 60-acre holding. It was certainly enough space for his 13 children and 84 grandchildren.

The complex is so large that it is not even sold in its entirety; the property listed for sale measures only nine acres. This includes a private port for yachts and a third of a mile of coastline. Coldwell Banker Realty in Florida, in collaboration with Corcoran and Savills, is in charge of selling the property.
