What new projects has Marvel announced at Comic Con 2022? Avengers, Captain America, Fantastic Four...
Marvel Universe fans were treated to a slew of upcoming releases planned by the superhero studio that will make up Phase 5 of the Multiverse Saga and more.
It’s been three years since Marvel Studios last had a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, but the superhero studio made sure to give the audience in the packed hall something to remember. President Kevin Feige told those assembled that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would wrap up the films in Phase 4 this Fall and unveiled Phase 5 which will run into the summer of 2024.
Kicking off Phase 5 will be ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ hitting cinemas in winter 2023. It will be joined by a number of upcoming film and TV productions. As well the public was given teasers for Phase 6, which will begin with ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot in the fall of 2024 followed by two new ‘Avengers’ movies in 2025.
The Multiverse Saga
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was reset after ‘Endgame’ and Phase 4 has been focused on “meeting all these new characters,” according to Feige. Together, Phase 5 and 6 will tell a coherent storyline of what has been dubbed the ‘Multiverse Saga’ encompassing all three phases. So here’s a look at the reveals at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 with a full list of release dates.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
After several delays, the sequel to ‘Black Panther’ will finally hit theaters 11 November 2022. The continuation of the 2018 blockbuster was again directed by Ryan Coogler. Before he brought out the cast he gave a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. The new faces that will be appearing in ‘Wakanda Forever’ include Tenoch Huerta as Namor, the Submariner and Dominique Thorne as Ironheart.
We also learned that Ironheart will be coming to Disney+ in the fall of 2023.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
Fans got their first view of ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ starring Tatiana Maslany which will be dropping 17 August 2022. Among the many stars joining her are Mark Ruffalo and Benedict Wong, and the panel made a special reveal, Charlie Cox will make a cameo as Matt Murdock A.K.A. Daredevil.
We also learned that the long rumored ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ TV series will be coming to Disney + in the spring of 2024.
Ant-Man And the Wasp: Quantumania
A third ‘Ant-Man’ film will be released in cinemas 17 February 2023 to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ will see Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Kathryn Newton joined by Jonathan Majors who will play Kang the Conqueror. The trailer also featured a cameo from Bill Murray and it’s been confirmed that the character MODOK will appear.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
The conclusion of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ trilogy will drop in theaters 5 May 2023. Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana will be starring in the third and final volume joined by a new character Adam Warlock, played by Will Poulter. Also we learned that Maria Bakalove will be the voice of Cosmo the Spacedog.
The movie is partly about the backstory of Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon. “He’s got to be the saddest creature in the universe,” said director James Gunn.
