What stores are open on Christmas Eve and Day?
Most stores will be operating under different working hours due to the holidays, not to mention the federal holiday on Christmas Day.
Christmas is fast approaching, but there are still opportunities to pick up late gifts and food for the myriad dishes that need plating up.
Many businesses early on Christmas Eve and most will be closed on Christmas Day. Major retail chains, grocery stores, and convenience stores often adjust their hours during the holiday season.
Store opening times Christmas Eve
Most stores will be operating on similar hours to previous years. In general, 6pm is the most common closing time on 24 December.
- Best Buy: Stores open at 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Costco: Hours can vary, but many stores are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Target: stores will open at 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Walgreens: Most stores open until midnight and open regular hours Christmas Day; pharmacy hours vary.
- Walmart: All stores close at 6p.m. and all locations will be closed Christmas Day.
Store opening on Christmas Day
Christmas Day is a federal holiday meaning, like Thanksgiving, most businesses will be closed. However, there are a few grocery stores that will be opening for reduced hours on Christmas Day, in case you are missing any vital ingredients for your holiday dinner.
- Albertsons: Most Albertson’s locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4p.m. on Christmas Day.
- Giant: Some Giant stores will remain open on Christmas Day, with hours of 8 a.m. to 5p.m.
- Safeway: Some Safeway’s will be open on Christmas Day, contact your local store for more details.
