Apple will be holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 10 to 14 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and is widely expected to focus on the integration of generative AI within its operating systems during the event.

The tech giant is also likely announce a collaboration with OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, and present how generative AI will be used in its operating systems.

Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to give the keynote presentation at 10 a.m. PT on Monday. Earlier this year during a shareholders meeting, Cook vowed that the company would “break new ground” on generative AI this year.

Although Apple has not yet announced what will be discussed in the presentations, tech experts and media outlets have given their take on what to expect.

What to expect from the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference

New versions of the operating systems of the iPhone, Mac, and iPad using generative AI tools could be demonstrated during the conference.

Apple usually uses the WWDC to announce new features and updates for its products. The company will probably unveil iOS 18′s latest capabilities, as well as software updates for their other devices.

According to Bloomberg, the company will launch “Apple Intelligence”, which will need an iPhone 15 Pro or iPads and Macs with an M1 chip or newer to use. The new capabilities will also be opt-in.

Integrating ChatGPT with Apple’s virtual assistant would boost the power of Siri. The assistant will be able to manage apps more directly with the help of Apple Intelligence, per Bloomberg. You may, for example, potentially direct Siri to edit a photo or draft an email by using your voice. The assistant’s new capabilities will be available only for Apple’s own apps to start with, according to the media outlet.
