What US cities are paying people up to $10,000 to work there?

Some cities in the United States are willing to pay up to $10,000 to convince remote workers to move there to contribute to the local economy.

The boom in remote work across the United States during the covid-19 pandemic looks like it is here to stay for some time. And now we are actually seeing a number of cities willing to pay up to $10,000 to convince remote workers to move there and earn a regular buck.

The website MakeMyMove identified several US cities that have started to offer financial incentives to attract more residents. Incentives range from cash and club memberships to recreational packages and other items.

It is important to mention here that the requirements for awarding the incentives vary from city to city, but, in most cases, the worker must be at least 18 years old and either employed full-time or willing to accept a full-time job. With that in mind, here are some of the cities that are laying on the temptations.

Eligible applicants outside the state of Oklahoma can claim up to $10,000 in relocation incentives if placed in a new position by inTulsa.

Ruston, Louisiana

Ruston is a university community in northern Louisiana that is home to Louisiana Tech University and nearby Grambling State University. The community’s incentive package for remote workers who relocate to Ruston includes a $10,000 grant awarded over a three-year period, as well as free lifetime memberships in the Alumni Foundation.

Morgantown, West Virginia

Morgantown is probably best known for being home to West Virginia University. The community offers remote workers an incentive package worth up to $20,000, including $12,000 in cash and various gifts and other perks.

Montpelier, Vermont

Under Montpelier’s incentive programme, remote workers can receive up to $5,000 per year for up to two years. Applicants who relocate and become full-time employees of a Vermont company are eligible to receive up to $7,500.

Lewisburg, West Virginia

Ascend WV’s Remote Worker Program offers a remote worker incentive package similar to the one offered by Morgantown. It includes $12,000 in cash, as well as other incentives totalling more than $20,000.

Northwest Arkansas

Northwest Arkansas is home to several cities, including Fayetteville, Bentonville and Huntsville. The incentive package for remote workers moving to the region includes $10,000, plus a mountain bike valued at $750.
