The Academy Awards are 95 years old this year as the organisation will hope to move on from last year’s debacle involving Will Smith.

The Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at Ovation Hollywood, the renamed Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, on 13 March, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET. It will be Kimmel’s third time hosting the awards.
“Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honour or a trap,” Kimmel said in November last year. “Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
The ceremony is the 95th in the organisation’s history. Bill Kramer, the CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said: “All I will say right now is that our anniversary, the 95th Oscars, is extremely important to us.
“I think it sets a really interesting rhythm for our 100th. You see this in the museum. I think we are able to celebrate our legacy while bringing the Academy into the future and the show will reflect that.”
Oscars 2022 nominations not yet released
Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams will announce the Oscar nominees live Tuesday, 24 January at 8.30 a.m. ET (5.30 a.m. PT). Good Morning America will show the nominations.
Some nominations to expect are The Banshees of Inisherin for Best Picture, Brendan Fraser for Best Actor, and Cate Blanchett for Best Actress.
Expectations are also high for S S Rajamouli’s RRR, Rise Roar Revolt, which made waves at the Golden Globes and is expected to get a nomination for Best Original Song.
