What can fans expect in The Walking Dead season finale?

Lots of zombies! Director of The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero wrote an article in the November 2022 issue of Empire and informed what audiences can look forward to in the show’s finale which he directed. “Is it zombie-heavy or zombie-light? Well, even if the script had said ‘two or three zombies’, I’d need more like 200 or 300,” he said.

Three new Walking Dead spin-offs coming soon

The new shows that will extend the end of ‘The Walking Dead’ by at least a few more episodes beyond the very last of the original that changed the zombie sub-genre forever will pair up fan-favorites Negan an Maggie, Grimes and Michonne as well as one focused on Daryl.

Daryl’s spin-off

Originally meant to be an anthology starring Daryl and Carol called ‘Tales of the Walking Dead’ the project took a turn when Melissa McBride who plays Carol was unable to relocate to Europe for shooting. Instead the show will focus solely on Daryl played by Norman Reedus as he tries to figure out how he ended up somewhere on the European continent.

The show will take a different turn. “The story’s way different. The characters are way different. There’s a different tone, there’s different light, there’s a different sound. It’s a whole different vibe,” Reedus told Entertainment Weekly. It’s set to premiere in 2023.

Maggie and Negan spin-off

The Maggie and Negan spin-off was originally title ‘Isle of the Dead’ but Entertainment Weekly reported that AMC changed it to ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ and will take the two to Manhattan. “The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,” said the network. No date for its release has been posted yet.

Grimes and Michonne spin-off

Whether or not Grimes will pop up in Season 11 of ‘The Walking Dead’ hasn’t been revealed yet but the trailer has scenes harking back to the very beginning of the long-running horror series. Details of the Grimes and Michonne spin-off are scarce but the six-episode series will conclude the stories of the fan-favorites who disappeared.

“This is a moment fans of The Walking Dead have been waiting for since Rick disappeared in the helicopter early in season nine, and Michonne journeyed away on a quest to find him the following season,” said president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks Dan McDermott. The show will be released in 2023.
