When will former President Donald Trump announce a 2024 White House bid?

The prospect of a Trump 2024 run has seemed inevitable ever since he left office and campaigning could be about to begin at an event in Ohio on Monday evening.

Former President Donald Trump could announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential race in a rally in Ohio on Monday evening, according to Trump’s former chief spokesman Jason Miller.

Miller, who served as chief spokesman for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and senior advisor in 2020, revealed in an interview with UK-based newspaper Express that “an announcement is imminent.”

“I will tell you from the things I am hearing, from the things I am being told in Mar-a-Lago, I think an announcement is imminent,” Miller revealed.

“I could very well see President Trump announcing this evening in Ohio,” he continued. “If it is not happening this evening then tomorrow on Election Day, or election evening when I will be with him in Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, then I think you will see an announcement.”

Trump is scheduled to appear at a campaign event for Senate candidate J. D. Vance in Ohio on Monday, seeking to rally his support on the eve of Election Day.

Previous reports had suggested that Trump would wait until after the midterm elections on 8 November to avoid drawing attention away from Republican candidates. But with such a prominent Trump ally suggesting that an announcement could be just hours away, it remains to be seen what impact it will have on the electorate.

Trump may announce at Ohio rally

The former President’s presence in Ohio on Monday is ostensibly a last-minute campaigning effort on before of J. D. Vance, whom Trump has been a vocal supporter of. Vance has no formal political experience but the investor has benefited greatly from the Trump’s endorsement.

We will have to wait until tonight to discover whether Trump will announce his 2024 candidacy on the eve of the midterm elections, but speculation is certainly mounting. It is possible that Trump himself has not even decided if this is the time and place for his announcement and well-placed sources suggest that those within the Republican Party will be watching closely.

Polls show that Trump remains the most popular candidate with a majority of Republican voters but his divisive nature makes it unlikely that he will win over many wavering Democrats.

Nonetheless in recent public appearances Trump has dropped increasingly heavy hints that he will seek a second term in the Oval Office.

Speaking at a rally in Miami on Sunday, Trump said: “In order to make our country successful, safe and glorious, I probably have to do it again. Stay tuned tomorrow night in the great state of Ohio. Stay tuned.”
