Where and when is Johnny Depp and his rock band playing in Europe?
After hooking up on stage with Jeff Beck in the UK and Finland, Johnny Depp will be going on the road with his own band, Hollywood Vampires.
After winning the recent trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp celebrated by doing what he enjoys most - playing music. As luck would have it, his long-time friend Jeff Beck was in the middle of his European tour and invited him along. A US jury found Heard guilty of defamation on conclusion of the lawsuit on 2 June but by that time, Depp was already on the road with Jeff Beck, first appearing with the former Yardbirds guitarist at Sheffield City Hall three days earlier on 29 May. He stayed on the road with Beck for the remainder of the UK tour and also played a couple of dates in Finland. After the stress of a lengthy, six-week trial, it was the ideal way to put the case to the back of his mind and unwind.
Depp’s musical buddies
Now Depp will be taking his own band, Hollywood Vampires, out on the road next year. The actor formed the supergroup in 2012, along with founding members Alice Cooper and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. On previous tours, the trio have been joined by a revolving cast of guest musicians - including the likes of Dave Grohl, Perry Farrell and Zak Starkey. The Vampires have released two studio albums: Hollywood Vampires (2015) and Rise (2019), comprising a mixture of original compositions and cover versions of classics such as Whole Lotta Love, My Generation, Cold Turkey and Heroes - all of which feature in their live set.
The Vamps had a mini European tour scheduled for 2020, with dates in the UK, Germany and Italy, but had to cancel when the coronavirus pandemic brought the world to a standstill.
On Wednesday, the band announced on their official social media accounts that they will be performing in Europe next year. “The Hollywood Vampires are BACK!! We’re coming to Germany and Luxembourg Summer 2023!” the statement read. “Tickets go on sale Monday 27 June at 11:00am CET. Keep an eye out for more to come”.
The band will be playing six dates - one in Luxembourg and five in Germany - including the Zitadelle in Mainz to make up for the show which was cancelled two years ago. More dates could be added in the coming weeks.
