Which states will have the lowest unemployment in the US in 2024?
The unemployment rate in the United States is 3.9%. Learn about the states with the lowest unemployment rates in the country.
Earlier this month, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shared its employment report for the month of April. According to the report, the national unemployment rate is 3.9 percent.
Both the unemployment rate and the number of unemployed, at 6.5 million, changed little last month. At the same time, the number of long-term unemployed, that is, those unemployed for 27 weeks or more, remained essentially unchanged at 1.3 million.
Since August 2023, the unemployment rate has remained in a narrow range of 3.7 percent to 3.9 percent. Although the national unemployment rate remains at 3.9 percent, the index changes for different population groups, as well as in different states.
Among major groups of workers, the unemployment rate for adult men rose to 3.6 percent in April. The rate for African Americans fell to 5.6 percent. The rate for adult women is 3.5 percent, for youth it is 11.7 percent, for white workers it is 3.5 percent, Asians 2.8 percent and Hispanics 4.8 percent.

These are the states with the least unemployment in the USA
Regarding the unemployment rate of each state, the most recent data is for the month of March. The state with the lowest unemployment rate is North Dakota with 2 percent, 1.9 percent lower than the national level.
South Dakota is the state with the second-lowest unemployment rate, at 2.1 percent; followed by Vermont, at 2.2 percent, as well as Maryland and Nebraska at 2.5 percent to round out the states with the lowest percentages of residents actively seeking work that hadn’t found a job yet.
On the other hand, the state with the highest unemployment rate is California, with 5.3 percent. Also at the top of the list were the District of Columbia is 5.2 percent; followed by Nevada, with 5.1 percent, along with Washington, New Jersey and Illinois all three with a 4.8 percent rate of unemployment.
