In 2020, Martha Stewart chose to keep silent on whom she would vote for. When asked by the The New York Times about whether she planned to publicly support a candidate, she said she would not endorse anyone “because it would be bad for business.”

This year, she has decided to speak out on which person will have her vote come November. According to The Daily Beast, during the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO forum held recently, Stewart gave the name of who she is voting for: “Kamala.”

Speaking to The Daily Beast executive Joanna Coles, Stewart said she is backing Harris because she prefers to have a president “who doesn’t hate New York” or “democracy”.

Past beef with Trump

The lifestyle icon once had a rivalry with former president Donald Trump, when they both hosted versions of “The Apprentice” that broadcast at the same time back in 2006. Trump had pointed out her spinoff show called “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” suffered low ratings.

Stewart endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016, saying the country needed a person who had experience and knowledge of world and domestic politics. She described Trump as “someone who is totally unprepared for what comes.

She may have divulged who she will vote for, but she is not likely to discuss the matter further, at least not in public.

“I’m not allowed to talk [about politics]. I can’t post anything about politics because first of all, the eyeballs of a parent company come and [I’ll] get a call right away. Can’t do that,” Stewart said. “You can’t talk [about that], so, keep it quiet,” she said, per The Daily Beast.
