Who is Charles III’s bodyguard? The social media sensation in charge of the King’s protection
Over 11,000 police officers will patrol the streets of London for King Charles III’s coronation but one security guard could have a starring role.
Charles III will quite clearly take centre stage at his own coronation as King of the United Kingdom on Saturday but there’s another member of his circle who has also attracted plenty of attention of late…whether he’s aware of it or not. Namely a mysterious bodyguard.
Charles’ security team will presumably be in for a busy time of things over the next few days. And one of the King’s bodyguards has become a social media sensation in recent months, with commenters remarking on his ‘super-cool’ appearance, dominated by his distinctive white beard. The man in question, who has been seen at a number of events with Charles since around the time of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, has not been officially named.

In any case, it would probably be wise not to mess with him. After the new King’s return to London following the passing of his mother in September last year, the bodyguard was heard asking well-wishing crowds to put their phones down and not film Charles outside Buckingham Palace. “Enjoy the moment”, was his subsequent message.
On top of that, he’s become something of a TikTok star… because of his fancy umbrella. Several users have filmed him walking in and out of the Palace with it, likening him to Harry Hart, Colin Farrell’s character from the film Kingsman. Not because of any physical appearance, but rather because of his ‘Gunbrella’.
A bodyguard with a gun disguised as an umbrella…the jokes write themselves.
