The beneficiaries will be those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) who, usually, are individuals with some type of disability.

Every month, the SSA issues millions of payments to beneficiaries of the Social Security program. Mpst benefits are issued on the second, third or fourth Wednesday of the month, depending on the date of birth of a recipient, with the exception of SSI beneficiaries and those who retired before May 1997.

These people receive payments on the first and thrid day of the month, respectively, regardless of what day they were born. However, when the payment date falls on a weekend or a holiday, the disbursement is moved forward to the first business day that the transaction can be processed.

As for the amounts, official estimates from the SSSA place the average payment for a retired worker at $1,907 for individuals and $3,303 for couples who file their taxes together. The average benefit for SSI recipients it is $943 for individuals and $1,415 for couples. If a beneficiary is eligible for both Social Security and SSI payments, the SSA will prioritize sending SSI on the first day of the month, while the other payment will be sent on the third day of the month.

Who will receive the $943 Social Security payment on May 31?

SSI beneficiaries received the payment corresponding to May on the first day of the month. However, next Friday, the 31st, the SSA will send them another check. This second payment corresponds to the month of June and is due to an advance in the calendar, given that the original payment date (June 1) falls during the weekend.

This means that, during the month of June, SSI beneficiaries will not receive any payment since the check was advanced to them, so it is recommended to manage your money well. The SSA issues the payment via direct deposit for beneficiaries who have provided a bank account, which is now mandatory, otherwise the money is sent via check via postal mail.

Regarding the payment schedule for next June, the distribution is as follows:

  • Monday, June 3: Beneficiaries who began receiving their payments before May 1997
  • Wednesday, June 12: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 1st and the 10th
  • Tuesday, June 18: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 11th and the 20th (shipped on Tuesday because Juneteenth Day)
  • Wednesday, June 26: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st
