Fox News appears to have fired arguably its biggest star. Tucker Carlson will no longer be hosting his show ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight.’

It is believed that Carlson thought he was to present the show last Monday as he declared to viewers on what turned out to be his final show, “We’ll be back on Monday. In the meantime, have the best weekend with the ones that you love.”

As of yet no one has been announced to be filling in the role permanently. The network said a number of guest hosts will be filling in “with rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named.” The new programme will be called “Fox News Tonight.”

Hannity has been a fixture at Fox News since the late 1990s and has become one of the network’s most popular and influential hosts. “As you probably have heard, Fox News and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” he told viewers. “I wish Tucker the best. I’m great friends with Tucker and always will be.”

Who is in the running to replace Tucker Carlson?

Jesse Watters rose to prominence as a correspondent on Fox News’ ‘The O’Reilly Factor,’ where he provided commentary and interviews on political and cultural issues. He later received his own show, ‘Watters’ World,’ which aired on weekends. He currently presents ‘Jesse Watters Primetime’ at 7 p.m..

Sean Hannity hosts “Hannity” on Fox News. He has been at Fox News since the late 1990s and has become one of the network’s most popular and influential hosts, putting him ina great position to succeed Carlson.

Laura Ingraham has been a fixture at Fox News since 2007 and currently hosts ‘The Ingraham Angle’ at 10 p.m. Ingraham is similar in politics and broadcasting presence to Carlson.
