Why are US flags at half mast today Nov. 29? The reason why they are at half-staff at federal buildings
To pay respect to former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, flags across the country will be flown at half staff.
To pay tribute to the late First Lady Rosalynn Carter, the United States has lowered flags from Wednesday, 25 November, until 29 November. This is an enduring custom that the country observes to commemorate the passing of an influential personality in American politics and culture.
Rosalynn Carter passed away earlier this month after the Carter Center had published a note from the family that she had been diagnosed with dementia. The former First Lady was 96 years old when she passed away at her home in Plains, Georgia. She was surrounded by her family and had been in hospice care for several days.
When will the funeral take place?
On Wednesday, 29 November, the funeral for the late Rosalynn Cartner will take place. This comes after events across the country to honor her life and legacy. The funeral service will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains for family and friends, with a private burial at the Carter residence.
Will the funeral be televised?
The public funeral was held on Tuesday, while the smaller, more intimate funeral in Plains, Georgia, will not be streamed publicly.
On Wednesday, November 29th, there will be a funeral service for Mrs. Carter at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, followed by her burial at the family residence. The funeral service is only for family and invited friends, however, the public is welcome to view the family motorcade from designated areas along the route from the church, down Bond Street, and along Hwy. 280 in downtown Plains. It is requested that everyone respects private property and parks only in designated areas.
The beautiful tributes made to Rosalynn Carter
At yesterday’s event, the daughter of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter read a letter written by her father because his health did not allow him to speak at the event. One of the most beautiful quotes from the speech were those that described the love Jimmy had for Rosalynn: “But when I see you I fall in love with you all over again. Does that seem strange to you? It doesn’t to me. Goodbye, darling, until tomorrow.”
The couple’s grandson, Jason Carter, also spoke to the brilliance and humility of his beloved grandmother.
