Why are Walmart customers complaining about the design of the new shopping carts?

Walmart has launched a new design of shopping carts which have been implemented in some branches throughout the United States.

The multinational corporation revealed the new design through a video shared via social networks. In this, one of the employees can be seen showing the new features of the shopping cart, which include a division to place your smartphone and a cup holder.

Since their launch at the end of July, the new designs have generated criticism among customers.

Among the comments on Walmart’s post customers of the department store chain complained about the height of the new cars; many pointed out that it was uncomfortable to use them and reported pain after making their purchases.

“These are really horrible for anyone who has any problems, especially someone who is short. Now I’m sitting at home in pain between the shoulder blades and the arm. Someone definitely didn’t think through the design. It is the most ridiculous thing that has come to light”, wrote Facebook user Kim Stewart.

In addition to the height of the shopping carts, other customers also complained about the smartphone holder, calling it “ridiculous” and “useless.”

“The cell phone holder is ridiculous! People can’t go 5 minutes without looking at their phone!” said Barbara Adams of Widner, Georgia, to USA Today, while Jared Strickland of Concord, North Carolina, noted: “In my opinion, The so-called phone stand seems useless. It’s just a small wire shelf to hold the phone upright. It doesn’t seem safe enough to me at all.”

Not all reviews are negative

Despite the negative comments and some customers point out that the change is a reflection of the company’s aim to satisfy the customer’s needs.

“They think about their customers and their needs while they shop, so I think [the phone holder is] a great gesture. They should keep both designs for different people to use and hopefully that will reduce complaints,”writes Kristian Lynch of Henry County, Georgia.
