Why did Elon Musk cancel Don Lemon’s deal on X?
Elon Musk has canceled a deal with former CNN news anchor Don Lemon. What led to the collapse of the deal?
A deal between X CEO Elon Musk and former CNN news anchor Don Lemon has collapsed after the two fell out over an interview Lemon conducted that Musk was not pleased with. The interview took place on the “Don Lemon Show,” which was to be streamed on X and will not be hosted on YouTube. During the interview, Lemon questioned Musk about recent reports he had met with former President Donald Trump in Florida. Musk became very nervous and visibly uncomfortable and tried to avoid the question. Lemon kept pushing and asked repeatedly what the two talked about and if Mr. Trump had asked him to contribute to his campaign or pay some of his legal fees. Responding to the question about what topics were discussed during the meeting, Musk said that Trump “did most of the talking” and denied contributing to his campaign or legal fund.
Lemon also shared clips with CNN where he asks Musk more personal questions related to drug use. Musk has been open with his followers about his use of ketamine to treat his depression, which he prefers over more traditional drug options like SSRIs. Consult with your doctor before taking any recreational drugs in an attempt to treat any mental illness. Taking the wrong dose can have fatal consequences.
On 13 March, X’s Business account announced that the company would not seek any sort of business partnership with Lemon but that he was free to publish and post content on the site. This announcement came after the interview, and Musk’s comments allude to how Lemon’s behavior led him to make the choice.
Musk responded to the comment made by the Business account and said that Lemon’s program on X would have been “CNN, but on social media.” CNN is a major target of Musk, and the X CEO got the feeling that Musk wouldn’t be able to get rid of the CNN mold he approaches his hosting and interview style.
When will Don Lemon’s new show premiere?
Those hoping to see Lemon’s forthcoming show are still in luck, as it will be streamed on YouTube. The first episode of Lemon’s new show is expected to premiere on Monday, 18 March.
