Why did Republican Senator Mike Lee’s Twitter account gets banned and then reinstated?
The Republican’s Twitter account was suspended earlier this Wednesday without notice from the tech giant.
Earlier this morning, the Republican senator announced that his personal Twitter account had been blocked. He added that the reason for his block was not shared with him previous to the banned and what he did wrong to get his account taken down.
This is the second that Twitter has taken down a Senator’s account in less than a month. Earlier in February, the company took down Montana Republican Senator Steve Daines’ account over a profile photo that Twitter said violated its policies
Why did senator Mike Lee get his account suspended?
Twitter’s owner Elon Musk personally called Mike Lee to have his account reinstated after the company flagged it for wrongful impersonation.
Lee had to use his professional account on the same platform to seek the Twitter universe’s help to regain his personal account.
“My personal Twitter account – @BasedMikeLee – has been suspended. Twitter did not alert me ahead of time, nor have they yet offered an explanation for the suspension. My team and I are seeking answers.” He Tweeted.
Before getting back online, the senator said, “Thanks to all who assisted in operation #Free@basedMikeLee. Still no explanation from @Twitter as to what happened.”
