STORE CLOSURES
Why is Walmart closing all of its health clinics? List of all 51 locations
The supermarket chain announced the closures citing disappointing profitability though thousands of other health centers are safe.
Retail giant Walmart has announced the closure of all 51 Walmart Health clinics across these states. This decision marks the end of its ambitious 2019 venture to challenge the large healthcare stores like CVS and Walgreen’s.
The closure stems from financial struggles. In a press release, Walmart said the closures are a “difficult decision, and like others, the challenging reimbursement environment and escalating operating costs create a lack of profitability that make the care business unsustainable for us at this time.”
The closures do not affect the pharmacies and vision centers. Workers in the closing clinics will also be paid for another three months and receive severance pay if they do not move to work in another Walmart.

No dates have been set for far for the closures, which affect seven states. Two planned openings have also been shelved.
