Why isn’t Doja Cat performing at Lollapalooza? Who is replacing her?
Doja Cat continues to recover from an oral operation on her tonsils. After she had to pull out of Lollapalooza many are wondering who will replace her.
Earlier this summer, Doja Cat canceled her performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza after she had her announced that she would need to have an operation on her tonsils. The singer will be replaced in the lineup by BTS member J-Hope on Sunday.
On May 20th, Doja Cat took to Twitter to alert her fans that she would have to have emergency surgery on her tonsil, and that meant that she would have to cancel the festival performances she had lined up as well as her tour with The Weekend. She ended the Tweet on a positive note saying, “I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.”
The Lollapalooza official Twitter account replied to Doja’s account saying that they were “saddened” by the news and wished her a speedy recovery.
On 8 June, the festival account alerted potential and registered attendees that J-Hope of BTS would be taking Doja Cat’s spot as a headliner on the fourth day of Lollapalooza. The account also mentioned J-Hope’s performance “will make history, cementing him as the first South Korean.”
Doja shares her recovery
From her hospital bed, Doja Cat shared a few photos and videos from her stay after her surgery. In one video the singer is featured rapping Nicki Minaj’s verse in Trey Songz’s song Bottoms Up.
Just minutes before, Doja posted a medical gown fashion series. For a performer known for her style and fashion sense, her fans loved the look, insisting it was one of her best.
While she recovers, Doja has still been working, including doing a shoot for the cover of Elle magazine. She has decreased her social media presence in recent week, which ideally has helped her recovery more quickly.
