Will Taylor Swift attend the 2024 DNC tonight? Has she endorsed a political candidate?
Rumors are circulating in the convention hall that a major performance from Beyoncé or Taylor Swift could come by the end of the night.
With the final lineup for the last night of the Democratic National Committee’s convention in Chicago still unconfirmed, whispers of a major performance continue to grow. Could it be Beyoncé? Could it be Taylor Swift? These are two of the biggest names circulating at the moment, though, so far, neither of these women has been seen at the convention.
The rumors intensify
Both of the music superstars tend to take a standoffish approach to politics, endorsing candidates in critical races but rarely speaking publically on behalf of the candidates themselves. Beyoncé has allowed her song, “Freedom,” to be used by the Harris campaign, which has increased speculation that a performance from Queen B could be awaiting conventiongoers at the end of the night.
In 2020, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé endorsed then-candidate Biden against Donald Trump. However, the endorsements came in late October and early November, which highlights how long the artists waited to throw their weight behind the Democratic ticket. The singers have fans in both political parties, and some fear that taking political stances will hurt their image.
As for whether either of these women will perform at the DNC stage, it appears the Beyoncé claim may have more concrete evidence to support the theory. Though some internet sleuths claimed that Swift’s private jet was seen at O’Hare airport, these reports have not been confirmed, and the hope that she will surprise attendees seems to stem from a hope to see the popstar perform rather than any real intelligence obtained by convention planners. On the other hand, Beyoncé is in Chicago, and TMZ is reporting that she will perform on the last night of the DNC.
