Will there be a Ted Lasso season 4?
The third season of the hit series Ted Lasso is about to finish on Apple TV+ tomorrow, and fans are already itching to know if there will be a fourth.
The third season of Ted Lasso will finally come to and end on Apple TV+ tomorrow after more than a year’s wait. The 12 episodes this year, were just like in season two, with the first installment first aired on Wednesday, March 15, and the finale on May 31.
What is Ted Lasso about?
Ted Lasso is a comedy-drama series that tells the story of a football coach who is hired to manage AFC Richmond, an English Premier League soccer team, despite having no experience whatsoever as a coach in the sport. Lasso had previously worked as a highly successful American football coach at a small college in Kansas.
Despite his lack of experience, he manages to adapt to his new environment, win over his skeptical players and fans, and become successful in his new career. Lasso’s positivity, folksy mid-western wisdom, and unconventional coaching methods turn the team around and transform the lives of those around him.
Ted Lasso’s increasing popularity
The show has been a hit since it debuted in August 2020, with viewership steadily increasing in the U.S. and abroad. The first season only had 10 episodes, and Apple increased the number the following year due to its success. The series’ triumph is attributed to its positive themes, its humor, and the relatable characters that star in it.
Ted Lasso’s popularity is matched by critical acclaim, receiving multiple Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The question now is whether there’ll be another season after this one, as the series has only been renewed until the third. This has led to speculation that Ted Lasso is about to wrap up.
‘The end of this story’
In an interview with Deadline, lead actor Jason Sudeikis, who plays the title character, does not come straight out to say that the series will end after the third season, but does hint at some kind of conclusion.
“This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,” said Sudeikis.
In addition Sudeikis also said, “ Maybe my May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season have been released. They’re like, ‘Man you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”
There are reports that the series could have a spinoff, and Sudeikis admits that it is satisfying to know that people seem to want to know how the story evolves.
“The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering,” he said.
