A powerful storm dumped inches of snow on New York City through parts of New England, and brought with it winds of up to 60 miles per hour. The fast-moving storm left some areas in New Jersey with more than 15 inches of snow.
More than a thousand flights were cancelled or delayed, while many schools cancelled classes or moved them online during the height of the storm.
The snow stopped falling by midday in some cities, but local governments are still dealing with clearing the snowfall. Residents are urged to shovel snow from their sidewalks, and motorists are asked to drive cautiously. Low temperatures are expected to contribute to icy conditions.
