Would you vacation in hell? One country has a theme park just for that
Visitors to Singapore have the opportunity to take a trip to hell, at the world’s first museum on death and the afterlife.

Singapore, a Southeast-Asian city state that welcomed nearly 17 million international visitors in 2024, boasts one hell of a tourist attraction.
Spread over 40,000 square feet in Singapore’s Haw Par Villa cultural park, you’ll find the Hell’s Museum.
“Memorably gruesome”
Opened in 2021, the display styles itself as “the world’s very first museum focusing on perspectives of death and the afterlife”.
The Hell’s Museum’s exhibits are headlined by its famous 10 Courts of Hell, an installation described by CNN’s Lilit Marcus as “memorably gruesome”.
Marcus notes that the 10 Courts of Hell are filled with graphic sculptures that “depict potential punishments in the afterlife, like bodies on pitchforks, dismembered heads crying tears of blood and wild-eyed demons feasting on internal organs”.
The museum’s mission statement reads: “Specially curated displays provide comparative insights that will give visitors a better understanding of the commonalities across the world’s major belief systems - and how different communities around the world, as well as in Singapore, draw meaning from death and dying […].
“Discover how concepts behind the graphic representations of sins and punishments in the afterlife evolved as ancient civilisations shared their cultures across time and space.”
