It was rumored before the event, but it has finally come true. Hideo Kojima appeared at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase conference to announce a collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. The Japanese developer will design an entirely new game taking advantage of cloud technology. As expected, some users have not reacted well and Kojima Productions has had to speak out on the networks about its relationship with PlayStation.
“After the announcement of our partnership with Microsoft using the cloud technology, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE," Kojima Productions' social media account wrote. “Please be assured that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation as well.”
The Japanese company has reminded that as an independent studio, Kojima Productions will continue to work on creations for all its fans. “We will explore various possibilities with games, movies, and music through platforms that evolve with time and technology. We look forward to your continued support!”
A unique game, according to Xbox
Nothing is known about the project itself, beyond the promise that the title will invite us to experience something that has never been seen before using cloud technology. "Hideo Kojima is one of the most innovative and creative minds in our industry we can’t wait to share what our teams will create together," they note on Xbox Wire.
Death Stranding, marketed in 2019, is the opera prima of Kojima Productions since its refoundation after the departure of Konami. The game is available on PS4 and PC and was improved and expanded by the hand of the Director's Cut for PS5 and compatibles. Recently, Norman Reedus, the lead actor, hinted that a sequel was in the works. However, it has not been officially confirmed, so we will have to wait. Overdose, which is said to be Kojima's next game, has not been revealed either.
