Learn how to defeat Mewtwo Psychic Tera Type 7 Stars in his Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and which Pokémon to use to do so.

The terrifying Mewtwo has arrived in the Tera Raids of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet with his own 7-Star Tera Raid, in which he possesses the Psychic Tera Type. This Pokémon Scarlet & Violet guide will tell you how to join the raid, defeat Mewtwo, and capture it.

7-Stars Mewtwo Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Dates and Times

Mewtwo Psychic Tera Type has arrived in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet to make things difficult for all players. According to the official website, Mewtwo is part of a limited-time event: he will appear in 7-Star Black Crystal Tera Raids from Friday, August 31, 2023 at 17:00 PT to Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 16:59 PT.

How to participate in 6 and 7 Stars Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet? Requirements

In order to take part in 6 and 7 Stars Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, we must first have completed the following:

  1. We must have completed the main story, which ends with the final fight in Area Zero.
  2. After this, we must complete the postgame content, which culminates in winning the Academy Ace Tournament. This unlocks the 5 and 6 Stars Tera Raids in our game.
  3. Upon completing a total of 10 Tera Raids of 4 Stars or more, Jacq will call us to tell us that Black Crystals have started to appear in Paldea, which are those of the 6 and 7 Stars Tera Raids.

Of course, there is a simpler option than all this, and that is that a player who has completed everything in the list above invites us to the 7-Stars Mewtwo Tera Raid by sharing a Link Code. Ask your friends, maybe someone has it available and can invite you. And remember that to force the game to be updated with the latest Tera Raids events, we must go to PokéPortal > Mystery Gift > Receive news from the Poképortal.

Where can I find Mewtwo’s 7-Star Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The Black Crystal that corresponds to Mewtwo’s 7-Star Tera Raid can randomly appear anywhere on the map in our game. Therefore, we need to look carefully to see if it has appeared or not. It is a black psychic-type icon with a shiny outline.

We can also go directly to its Tera Raid from the PokéPortal > Tera Raids. Here we select the silhouette of Mewtwo.

What moves does Mewtwo use in the Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Here’s Mewtwo’s move set for his 7-Star Tera Raid, so you know what you’re up against:

  • Psystrike (Type Psychic, Special, Power 100, Accuracy 100).
  • Aura Sphere (Type Fighting, Special, Power 80, never misses).
  • Ice Beam (Type Ice, Special, Power 90, Accuracy 100, 10% chance of freezing the target).
  • Calm Mind (Type Psychic, Status, it raises the user’s offensive and defensive stats for four turns).

Mewtwo always starts the Tera Raid with Calm Mind and the shield. If we manage to break his shield, he will use Rest and wake up immediately thanks to the Chesto Berry he is equipped with.

How do you beat 7-Star Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The 7-Stars Mewtwo Tera Raid is extremely complicated, and it is designed for us to use Mew, as all Mews present will receive a 50% HP bonus and a 20% bonus to all other stats. The ideal is to play with friends, each with a Mew. We can get Mew for free in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet by using the Mystery Gift code “GETY0URMEW” (without the quotes).

This is a Tera Raid that is almost impossible to complete without coordination. We recommend that you play with three friends and that all four players use Mews, with at least a couple of Mews focusing on offense and the other two on support and healing so that no one dies.

One of Mew’s strengths is that it can learn any move. This gives it unparalleled versatility.

The attacking Mew should have the following configuration:

  • Level 100.
  • Maximum IVs.
  • Maximum EVs in HP and attack (252 HP, 252 attack, and 4 special defense).
  • Bug Tera Type
  • Lonely Nature (+Attack, -Defense).
  • Its Ability does not matter because it can only have Synchronize.
  • As an equipped item, Leftovers or Silver Powder. Leftovers is an item that makes the Pokémon recover some HP at the end of each turn. It can be purchased for 20,000 Poké Coins at the Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa. Silver Powder is an item that increases the Power of Bug-type moves by 20%. It can be purchased for 3,000 Poké Coins at the Delibird Presents in Mesagoza.
  • The moveset must be Swords Dance, Leech Life, Struggle Bug and Life Dew. The higher the PP of all the moves, the better.
  • Swords Dance is TM088.
  • Leech Life is TM095.
  • Struggle Bug is TM015.
  • Life Dew is a move that Mew learns at level 40. If he doesn’t have it, we can make him remember it.

Support new should have the following configuration:

  • Level 100.
  • Maximum IVs.
  • Maximum EVs in HP and attack (252 HP, 252 attack, and 4 special defense).
  • Bug Tera Type
  • Naturaleza Gentle (+Defensa Especial, -Defensa).
  • Its Ability does not matter because it can only have Synchronize.
  • As an equipped item, Leftovers. Leftovers is an item that makes the Pokémon recover some HP at the end of each turn. It can be purchased for 20,000 Poké Coins at the Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa.
  • The move set should be Mud Slap, Electric Terrain or Misty Terrain, Light Screen, and Life Dew. The higher the PP of all the moves, the better.
  • Mud-Slap is TM005.
  • Electric Terrain is TM136 and Foggy Terrain is TM139.
  • Light Screen is TM075.
  • Life Dew is a move that Mew learns at level 40. If he doesn’t have it, we can make him remember it.

The strategy to be followed is as follows:

  • Offensive Mew focus on increasing their attack with Sword Dance, then attack with Battle Bug and Leech Life.
  • Support Mew monitor everyone’s health with Life Dew, set up defenses with Light Screen, and reduce Mewtwo’s accuracy to maximum with Mud Slap.
  • When the attacking Mew has hit with three attacks, use Terastalize and keep hitting.
  • Just before breaking through Mewtwo’s barrier, the supporting Mew will use Electric Terrain or Misty Terrain to prevent Mewtwo from using Rest and Regaining Health.
  • Once the shield is broken and Mewtwo can’t use Rest, the hard part is over; the attacking Mew must keep hitting while the supporting Mew keeps an eye on everyone’s Health with Health Dew and uses Light Screen as soon as the previous one dissipates.

What rewards do we get for defeating 7-Star Mewtwo in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The first reward is the most obvious: a Psychic Tera-type Mewtwo with the Mightiest Mark. It’s level 100, its moveset is Psystrike, Aura Sphere, Ice Beam and Calm Mind, its ability is Unnervable, it has Modest Nature (+Special Attack, -Attack), maximum IVs (Unbeatable) and minimum EVs for us to upgrade as we like. As always, we can only get one of these Mewtwos per game.

We also have rewards in the form of many L, XL and Rare Candies, an Ability Patch (which allows us to change a Pokémon’s Ability to a different one), Ability Capsules, treasures such as Nuggets, Star Shards or Comet Fragments, upgrade items such as Iron, and many Psychic Tera Shards.

In addition, if we use Mew in this tough Tera Raid, he will also earn the Mightiest Mark.
