2025 Pokémon World Championship: The most impressive items from the Pokémon Center

The spirit of college (Pokémon) is alive and well in Anaheim.

Before the competitions begin at the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, part of the convention center is already ready to welcome spectators and fans. The Pokémon Center Pop-Up Store has been a must-see stop at these competitions, and although it was a very reserved space before the pandemic, since London 2022 it has become a new opportunity to obtain more specialized and themed merchandise for each of the world championships.

For Anaheim 2025, we find a larger Pokémon Center with several uniquely decorated areas and, of course, many “must-have items” that any Pokémon fan will want to take home. After touring the store, these were the items that caught our attention the most.

Plushies from the event

There is no doubt that the most eye-catching items are those featuring Pikachu and friends themed for the event. And first among these are the plushies. Pikachu, Machamp, Jigglypuff, and Fennekin had their own special plushies, proving that Pokémon in clothes look truly incredible.

Duffel bag

While in previous years we have seen backpacks, this year we have a travel bag that looks incredible. In addition to featuring the event logo and university Pikachu, the Pokémon details and university logos on the sides give it a look and feel that complements a very different item.

Boogey Board

One of the strangest items this year was the bodyboarding board. This activity is very similar to surfing, where the athlete lies on their chest instead of standing on the board. This small board is completely themed with the elements of the event.

Pokémon Chess

For those who want to take Pokémon battles to a higher, more classic level, this is impressive. Both the pieces and the chessboard feature an eye-catching Pokémon theme, with metal pieces and a board that even includes drawers to store the pieces.

Varsity Jacket

As in previous years, clothing has become a very important element, and on this occasion one of the first items we came across was the university jacket worn by Pikachu himself at the event, orange with a P embroidered on the chest. Unlike the Pikachu plush toy, which has Anaheim 2025 on the back, here we find the complete image of the event.

Baseball Shirt

One of the most pleasant surprises was finding baseball shirts inspired by Pokémon. The details are minimal, with a Pikachu shield and Pokémon along the chest, and Anaheim 25 on the back.

Greaser Denim Jacket

Continuing with clothing, another theme of the event was greasers. And although there weren’t as many items as we would have liked, the denim jacket featuring Arcanine, Squawkabilly, and Pikachu was one of the most interesting clothing items we saw in the store.

Red Gyarados Statue

On this occasion, not everything sold in the store was available in the Pokémon Center aisles. A prior raffle gave access to certain items, one of which was the red Gyarados statue, which shows the impressive fury of this shiny Pokémon in great detail.

This year, the different themes and larger store space offered a different experience from previous editions. It even included the fun Jigglypuff Records section, with albums that parodied real artists in a Pokémon style; a great idea that may not have been commercialized due to rights issues.
