A dog-shaped robot with Elon Musk’s face is seen walking the streets of San Francisco
There are also models featuring the faces of Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
Elon Musk has been spotted in San Francisco (United States), but not in the way you might imagine. It happened on April 8, when some residents witnessed a curious sight: a dog-shaped android walking through the streets... with the tycoon’s face. The image is unsettling, as the face looks incredibly realistic.
In fact, this project is part of the marketing campaign for an art exhibition titled “INFINITE_LOOP.” The artist behind it is Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, who has created a series of dog-like robots modeled after various tech moguls, including Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon). He has also recreated artists such as Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.
A critical look at the role of algorithms.
“The robots then physically produce printed images—ejected from their rear ends—transforming algorithmic interpretation into tangible output. All of these prints are distributed free of charge to visitors,” reads the official website of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. “Through this deliberately literal system of observation, digestion, and output, Beeple offers a pointed commentary on how contemporary perception is shaped by algorithms and technology platforms.
The artist points out that tech moguls like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk control what we see and shape the world through their algorithms. “When they want to make a change, they don’t have to launch lobbying campaigns or go to Congress: they simply go ahead and do it.”
