A father boasts that his 7-year-old son defeated Malenia in Elden Ring and receives criticism from the community

After sharing a clip of his young son defeating Malenia in Elden Ring, a father saw one of the ugliest parts of the community after toxic posts started pouring in.

Update:
A father boasts that his 7-year-old son defeated Malenia in Elden Ring and receives criticism from the community

In FromSoftware fashion, Elden Ring has been a massive success ever since it release due to its innovative twist on their formula, high difficulty, and some impressive challenges that people are still trying to beat almost two years after its release. And of course, Malenia, Blade of Miquella, is one of the most infamous ones. So when a father reposted his 7-year old son defeating the epic fight, one would hope for some praise from the community.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case this time. When user dmcshinobi posted the short clip of his young son beating Malenia (from back in 2022), the post got immediately flooded by the toxic side of the community, criticizing the child for his chosen build. From his weapon (Rivers of Blood) to his tactics ( using Godrick’s Great Rune to get additional stat boosts and using the ever helpful Mimic Tear summon), some users tried to minimize the kid’s achievement.

But this thankfully didn’t last for long. While the comments are still there, a rush of positive comments came in as an answer to the negativity, starting a conversation about the game instead of focusing on bringing down the father and his son for sharing what is obviously a memorable moment. They’ve since shared how the kid’s gaming habits started, and how his dad has been trying to balance his studies with sharing this cool hobby by showing him some great classics like Minecraft, Half-Life 2, Guitar Hero, and even Stray.

We’re still waiting for Elden Ring’s first expansion, ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’

This same week FromSoftware announced the first update of the year for the game, which focuses strictly on upgrading the title’s anti-cheat system. But apart from this, there’s nothing lse in this patch, which means that fans are once again left waiting on news about the upcoming DLC/expansion for Elden Ring, ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’. Ever since its announcement over a year ago, no news or updates have been revealed about the game other than that the team is still working on it, and that it’ll launch when its ready.

Ever since the release of Elden Ring in February 25, 2022, FromSoftware has been actively updating the game while working on other projects. Last year they released Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon to critical acclaim, but after that no other project apart from this highly awaited expansion has been revealed.
