A hint in 'The Last of Us' S2 trailer teases the moment fans dread most

Warning for those who haven’t played The Last of Us Part II: Spoilers ahead.

Just a few days ago we were able to enjoy the first trailer for the second season of ‘The Last of Us’, which will arrive on MAX in early 2025. As Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the creators of the series, warned, it will take several seasons to capture the events of The Last of Us Part II, but already in this second season we could witness one of the key moments of the video game.

From here, if you have not played ‘The Last of Us Part II’, we invite you to stop reading, because important spoilers are coming.

The Last of Us S2 trailer previews THIS MOMENT.

And that is, at a certain point in the trailer, we discover an incredibly shrill sound effect that abruptly ends with a very sudden silence. This is something that went completely unnoticed by most, but it is the exact same sound that is made during the most difficult moment of the game.

In fact, during the scene in which Ellie and Joel are held hostage by Abby’s group in Seattle, which eventually leads to the latter’s death, the same effect that we can hear in the trailer can be heard. It is not an unequivocal sign that we will see this very hard scene during the second season of the series, but it is an indication that it is more than likely.

When will the second season of The Last of Us be released?

The second season of ‘The Last of Us’, like many other productions, was a victim of the Hollywood actors and writers strike that occurred last year in 2023, so its premiere obviously suffered a significant delay. After finishing shooting almost in record time, we still do not have a concrete date for its arrival at MAX, but as we said, it is expected to arrive during the first months of 2025.
