Saber Interactive’s terrifying new game aims to revolutionize the concept of what it means to play hide and seek.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead reveals new and gameplay details

With less than a month to go until the release of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, and both Saber Interactive and developer studio Stormind Games continue to reveal fascinating details about the gameplay mechanics of this video game adaptation of the chilling film saga.

As part of the recent preview with the developers, Manuel Moavero, Design Director, delved into the hide-and-seek mechanic that the game will implement to stand out from other survival horror exponents and, true to the films of A Place in Silence, will require the player to be super silent to survive.

In order to navigate the levels without revealing his location to the savage aliens, the player will have a flashlight that will allow him to identify the noisy obstacles around him, such as buckets of water or bear traps, in the dark and gloomy environments that surround him. But more importantly, he will also have a phonometer that will allow him to measure noise.

This device, the size of a walkie-talkie, will deploy two bars, one that reflects the ambient sound and the other the sound generated by the player. In addition, the protagonist will be able to use objects such as bottles or sandbags to create distractions or mask the sound of his footsteps as he navigates the world of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.

Though not as effective as silence, classic hide-and-seek maneuvers such as hiding in boxes or bushes will also play a role in the game’s mechanics, though any fan of the A Quiet Place saga knows that the predators that invade the land in this story are blind.

It is worth remembering that just a few weeks ago, Saber Interactive released another video in which it went into detail about the types of surfaces and how they will affect the gameplay in A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, which will be released on October 17th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.
