Acclaim returns with nine new games at first Play Acclaim Showcase
Update:

Acclaim has officially announced its return to the industry with a first wave of titles unveiled at its inaugural Play Acclaim Showcase earlier this week. The showcase featured nine distinct games, spanning a wide range of genres, from roguelites and rhythm-based adventures to sports classics and quirky simulation games, proving that Acclaim is not only looking back at its roots but also forging a new path forward. The event concluded with a surprise announcement and immediate launch of Katanaut, a fast-paced action roguelite.

A Diverse Lineup for Every Player

The games revealed offer a wide variety of experiences designed to appeal to different types of players. Among the most unique titles is The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest, a Metroidvania-style game steeped in a powerful narrative about a game developer’s physical and emotional burnout. For fans of fast-paced action, Talaka introduces a combat-driven roguelite that beautifully brings Afro-Brazilian mythology to life in a hand-painted world. Ground Zero Hero offers another twist on the roguelite genre, setting players in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where they can absorb the radioactive guts of mutated freaks to gain new powers. Similarly, Katanaut offers a blend of fluid combat and cosmic horror in a Metroidvania-inspired world, already earning the fan nickname “Dead Space Cells.”

Rhythm and sports also take center stage in the showcase. GRIDbeat! is a rhythm-fueled cyber-dungeon crawler where every move must sync with the music, creating a high-stakes, strategic challenge. On the other hand, Basketball Classic is a spiritual successor to the golden era of 8-bit sports games. It brings 5-on-5 pro basketball to life with a side-scrolling, arcade-style experience.
