Actress Rachael Lillis, voice actress from Pokémon, dies at age 46
She participated in the animated show, voicing two of the most popular characters in the series: Misty and Jessie (Team Rocket).
Today was confirmed the decease of voice actress Rachael Lillis at age 46. She participated in different projects related to Japanese entertainment, from the dubbing of some anime-based video games to series such as Pokémon, where she lent her voice to recurring characters (Misty, Ash’s friend and Jessie, from Team Rocket).
She also voiced some of the anime’s creature sounds, such as Jigglypuff, Vulpix and Goldeen. Lillis also had voice roles in “Your Lie in April,” “Hunter x Hunter,” “Winx Club” and many more.
Some of her colleagues, like Veronica Taylor, Ash’s original voice actress, have shared messages about her departure in social media.
Rachael was diagnosed with cancer last May, and as a result, her sister, Laurie Orr, created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to cover medical expenses, where now a message from her sister expressing her feelings about this situation can be read:
“Hello everyone, With a heavy heart, I regret to say that Rachael has passed away. She passed peacefully Saturday night, without pain, and for that we are grateful. She is with God, the angels, and family that has passed before her, surrounded by infinite Love. Unfortunately, regrettably, I was not with her, it was just this past week that she was starting to decline. This was unexpected and we are completely grief-stricken. We ask for peace, for now, as her family grieves this loss.”
May she rest in peace.
