After Split Fiction, Hazelight is already working on its next game, as confirmed by Josef Fares
The presence of three actors has fans speculating about a new co-op format.
Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight Studios, has officially confirmed that development is underway for the studio’s next big project after the success of Split Fiction. The announcement came through a teaser image shared on social media, featuring Fares in a motion capture studio alongside three actors whose identities remain hidden.
While details regarding the title or setting are still under wraps, the presence of three actors in the frame has immediately sparked speculation among the community. Since the studio’s previous hits like A Way Out and It Takes Two focused strictly on duos, fans are wondering if this new project will expand the cooperative formula to accommodate a three-player dynamic.
Building on the momentum of Split Fiction
This news arrives as Hazelight celebrates the staggering performance of Split Fiction, which launched in early 2025. The game proved to be a commercial juggernaut, moving one million copies in its first 48 hours and reaching the two million mark within its debut week. By early 2026, the game had surpassed four million units sold, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of Electronic Arts’ recent financial success.
In our review we wrote: “The mechanics are intuitive, fun and creative. Both Mio and Zoe have different abilities that try to complement each other, at the same time demonstrating the maturity that Hazelight Studios has achieved in this type of mechanics. Split Fiction is a game that requires some coordination from the player and can become very intuitive for connoisseurs of the genre patented by Fares. The game shows the maturity of Hazelight Studios in terms of mechanics, balancing creativity and intuition with flashy puzzles and sequences that require skill. However, the story, graphics, and dialog create an atmosphere that makes it a memorable game”
