After two years, Crunchyroll is bringing back manga in a new app starting next month
New York Comic-Con attendees will have a first look at the company’s booth.

Crunchyroll is making its much-anticipated return to the digital manga space with the launch of its new app, Crunchyroll Manga. This standalone, ad-free application is set to debut on iOS and Android devices in the United States and Canada on October 9, with a browser version to follow on October 15. The new service will be separate from the main Crunchyroll anime streaming platform, offering a dedicated experience for manga enthusiasts.
The app will launch with “hundreds of titles,” featuring a mix of popular hits and new series. Fans can look forward to reading major series like One Piece and Jujutsu Kaisen, alongside other celebrated titles such as Daemons of the Shadow Realm, My Dress-Up Darling, and Delicious in Dungeon. The library will be powered by Link-U Group, a Japanese media company specializing in digital manga services, and will include content from a variety of publishers like Viz Media, Yen Press, Square Enix, and Shueisha.

The Crunchyroll Manga app is designed with the reader’s experience in mind. It will offer several key features that enhance the reading process, including the ability to download chapters for offline reading, which is ideal for fans on the go. Additionally, the app will support both light and dark modes to suit different reading preferences and environments. Readers can also enjoy full-page spreads and create personalized reading lists with curated recommendations, making it easier to discover new series that align with their interests.
Crunchyroll Manga features and pricing
For existing Crunchyroll subscribers, the new manga app is available as a premium add-on. Those on the Ultimate Fan tier ($15.99 USD) will gain access to the service at no additional cost. Subscribers to the Fan tier will be able to add the manga app for an extra $4.00 USD, bringing their total monthly cost to $11.99 USD. Mega Fan subscribers can add the service for a slightly discounted $3.50 USD, for a total of $15.49 USD per month. This tiered pricing model allows fans to customize their subscriptions based on their preferences for both anime and manga content. This new initiative marks a fresh start for Crunchyroll’s digital comics offerings, following the conclusion of its previous manga service in December 2023.
