Ahsoka: The identity of Marrok, a new Inquisitor, is already creating many fan theories
The appearance of Sam Witwer in Ahsoka’s credits has led fans to believe we might see a new version of Star Killer in the current Star Wars canon.
Until a few days ago there was no certainty about who was under the mask and armor of Marrok, the mysterious Inquisitor from the Star Wars spin-off series, Ahsoka. However, that has not prevented the fans themselves from exposing their theories on the matter. Some thought of a clone of Ezra Bridger or Luke Skywalker, but both hypotheses do not seem to have much evidence for them. And what about Garen Malek, better known as Starkiller? The protagonist of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the candidates that fans are considering, although the theory has been diluted after the premiere of the third episode.
The truth is that Dave Filoni, showrunner, writer, and director of Ahsoka, toyed with the idea of reintroducing Starkiller into the canon. The character was about to return as an Inquisitor in Star Wars: Rebels, but the idea was ultimately scrapped. Hence, not a few have thought of Darth Vader’s apprentice as the possible identity of Marrok, not to mention that the name sounds a bit similar. In reality, Episode 3 clears up the mystery quite a bit, since Paul Darnell figures in the role of the character instead of Sam Witwer.
Starkiller Actor Confirms He Has Worked On Ahsoka
The theory gained strength because it was discovered that Sam Witwer, the actor who played Starkiller in the Force Unleashed video games, is credited in Ahsoka, without pointing to any particular character (additional voices). Not that it’s indicative of anything, as the actor has voiced several characters in the Star Wars universe (including Darth Maul and Palpatine) and even had a cameo in Andor.
“I can’t really talk about stuff like that, except for that there is a show that I watched and I really like it,” answered Witwer to the question of whether or not he was involved in the series. “I don’t know what the rules are. Honestly, I was just about to say I didn’t work on Ahsoka, but i did. I can only say that I’m proud of Dave [Filoni].”
Ahsoka will premiere its fourth episode next Wednesday.
