Remedy

Alan Wake 2 director asks for Red Dead Redemption Remaster not to be released in October

Remedy is asking Rockstar Games not to release the Red Dead Redemption remaster on the release date of Alan Wake 2, in an already tight October.

Update:
Alan Wake Red Dead Redemption

“I swear to God, if the rumoured Red Dead Remaster comes out on October 17th...” So began Kyle Rowley, director of Alan Wake 2, in what quickly became his most viral tweet. “Don’t do this, Rockstar Games. PLEASE!” The developer had to clarify that it was a joke after dozens of messages encouraging him to have more faith in his game and his team.

Whether it’s humorous or not, Rowley is right. October has already been baptized by many as the best month in the history of video games, and it doesn’t look like there will be money and time for all the releases. We will have to choose, and if Red Dead Redemption joins the party, how can we bet against Rockstar Games?

All games and releases for October 2023

  • Forza Motorsport - October 10
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage - October 12
  • The Lords of the Fallen - October 13
  • Alan Wake 2 - October 17

Will there be a Red Dead Redemption remaster?

A few weeks ago, the Korean GRAC (Game Rating and Administration Committee) registered Red Dead Redemption Remaster in its system, and far from the anecdotal it may seem, it has a long history of leaking games that are yet to be announced, and it is almost always right. Additionally, it doesn’t usually take too long between its listings and the final release date, so all signs point to us seeing the game before the end of 2023.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a Red Dead Redemption remaster. Last year it seemed like an open secret, and there was even talk of another Rockstar remaster, GTA IV. However, after what happened with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, the company shelved both games after the disastrous release.

In recent hours, the company’s official website has even been updated with a new logo for the game, which now reads “Rockstar Games presents...” Is an announcement imminent?
