The Game Awards 2024: Every Game of the Year winner in the history of the event
As the 10th anniversary of Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards approaches, why not look back throughout its history to see who took the big prize every year.
Everybody has their own opinion about what game should take the Game of the Year award at the end of every year. Every outlet gives its own awards for the best of the season. And between award and award, it is strange that there is not a decoration above all. The industry is getting its years in, but still there is no central organization to evaluate everything as happens in other art mediums. There is no Academy Award, no Emmy, no Hugo or Nebula… but we do have the GOTY that is delivered during The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley’s award ceremony.
On the one hand it is the one that has the most impact (with millions of viewers every year). On the other hand, the winners are selected by journalists from media around the world. The fact is that it is currently the most recognized award and the list of winners summarizes quite well the comings and goings of the industry during its short history. And that is the reason why today we are going to review how it has evolved the record as the years go by.
All the GOTY winning games at The Game Awards
These are all the games that won the GOTY award at The Game Awards, although let’s remember that up until 2014, Geoff Keighley’s gala was called Spike VGX / Spike VGA.
