Amazon Games Montreal unveils March of Giants, detailing Closed Alpha dates

North American PC players can now request access to the closed alpha test for the debut title from the creators of Rainbow Six Siege.

Amazon Games has announced that its new Montreal-based studio has opened closed alpha testing for its debut title, March of Giants. This new free-to-play War MOBA for PC invites players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico to be among the first to experience its blend of strategic and military gameplay.

What is March of Giants about?

The game is set in a ravaged urban battlefield that combines elements of science and magic with the early 1900s technology. Players will take on the role of towering Giants, commanding thousands of soldiers in a 4v4 competitive battle. This new approach aims to capture the epic scale of war, introducing new player-driven mechanics. “We wanted to create something that captures the strategic depth of traditional MOBAs while introducing innovative mechanics that let players command massive armies and deploy tactical structures on the battlefield. This has been a passion project for our team for years, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with players,” Creative Director Xavier Marquis explained.

“To bring a fresh perspective to the MOBA genre”

A key element of March of Giants is its focus on player command and control. Instead of just controlling a single hero, players will lead their soldiers, directing thousands of troops to fight alongside them or to crush enemies. They can also deploy Battleworks—tactical structures that help in combat and defense. This means players have a direct impact on the battlefield beyond their own unique abilities as a Giant. The alpha test will give participants access to 15 different Giants, each with distinct abilities. Ten will be available from the start, with the remaining five unlocking as players progress. This allows for a variety of tactical approaches and provides a positive sense of progression for players.

The closed playtest is scheduled to run from September 2 to 10, 2025. The purpose of this initial closed alpha is to gather critical player feedback on core gameplay and technical stability. This early feedback will be instrumental in shaping the game’s development as it moves toward broader testing and a full release. Players interested in participating can request access through the March of Giants Steam page, with a Steam account being the only requirement. This initial test will be under a non-disclosure agreement, so participants can expect to be among a select few.
