AMD Radeon RX 7600, a GPU that aims to reach 65% of PC gamers

The new graphics card designed to win over most of the PC master race.

AMD has tried to fight with its line of Radeon 7000 graphics cards, which boast the best performance per watt thanks to its RDNA 3 technology. This time, we had the opportunity to test the new AMD Radeon RX 7600, a GPU that aims to conquer all gamers who play in Full HD, which currently represents more than 65% of the PC master race.

The Radeon RX 7600 Market

This card aims to reach 54% of gamers who currently play with GPUs with less than 8 GB of video RAM. This is important to take into account in order to understand the type of tests we have carried out and, above all, for users who are interested in knowing that this GPU aims to ensure that all new generation video games can be played with maximum graphics performance above 60 frames per second.

Test Configuration

We conducted this evaluation using a computer with the following specifications

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 at 3200 Mhz
  • Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wi-Fi
  • SSD: WD Black SN850X

AMD Radeon RX 7600 Specifications:

  • AMD RDNA 3 Processing Units: 32

Premium look

Taking a cue from its big sister, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, it looks a little spectacular and both its shape and size make it very easy to install. Unlike NVIDIA GPUs, this card requires no adapter or fifth generation PCIe power supply and only takes up 2 slots in the chassis.

Test Methodology

For this test, we used both the CPU and GPU in default mode with AMD Smart Access Memory enabled and a 165Hz capable monitor at Full HD resolution. All games were run without raytracing or technologies such as FSR to unlock the full capacity of the card.

20 of the 28 games were run for at least 30 minutes, sampling the same parts as NVIDIA’s 40-series GPUs. The other 10 were tested with a proprietary benchmark.

Video games with their own benchmark

Cyberpunk 2077: 100 FPS

Dying Light 2: 107 FPS

Forza Horizon 5: 66 FPS

Hitman 3: 126 FPS

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition: 115 FPS

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: 120 FPS

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: 80 FPS

The Callisto Protocol: 38 FPS with RT

Titles without own benchmark:

Apex Legends: 56 FPS, Atomic Heart: 120 FPS, Battlefield 2042: 114 FPS, Control: 117 FPS YDays Gone: 128 FPS.

Death Stranding: 127 FPS, Devil May Cry 5: 258 FPS, DOOM Eternal: 153 FPS, Fortnite: 30 FPS y God of War: 84 FPS.

Gotham Knights 4K: 105 FPS, High on Life: 117 FPS, Little Nightmares II Enhanced Edition: 138 FPS, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: 108 FPS y Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: 59 FPS.

Medium FSR: 114 FPS, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition: 97 FPS, Resident Evil Village: 97 FPS, Star Wars: Squadrons: 356 FPS y The Witcher: Enhanced Edition: 95 FPS.

Noise and temperature

The card generates virtually no noise and did not average more than 163°F, even with the fans running all the time.

Conclusion

The Radeon RX 7600 is a good choice if you play at Full HD resolutions and have not replaced your GPU in the last 3 years, as you will be able to get more than 60 FPS in many games at the highest settings. It is not a card that shines in the area of ray tracing, but it is a monster to play even some competitive titles without this visual modality. Its features dedicated to content creation can be useful to start with, and the fact that it is prepared for the new monitors with high refresh rates makes it an option to consider.

Best

  • RDNA 3
  • Full HD next generation games at over 60 FPS at maximum settings.
  • AV1 decoding
  • Good design and presentation
