Rockstar Games
Amid a drought of trailers and information, GTA 6 fans are stepping up and discussing this key element of the release
Rockstar Games plans to release it during 2025, but still has no concrete date.
There is a desire for GTA VI. A lot. The new production of Rockstar Games has offered hardly any details throughout 2024, but now that we have moved the year, the release date is approaching and fans do not stop theorizing and discussing about the game. And that’s despite the fact that no new trailers have been released, not even more information about Jason and Lucia, the two main characters of this installment. Meanwhile, some fans are wondering what its average score on Metacritic will be when it comes out.
One Reddit user put it this way: “Does GTA VI have a shot at becoming the first Metacritic 100 game?” From there, everyone joined in the fun. “No,” replied 4000kd. “No. Ocarina of Time (99 rating) and SoulCalibur (98 rating) have the highest metascores, but they have less than 25 reviews each. Most modern AAA games have 100-150 reviews. GTA 6 will probably get like a 97-95 (which would be a pretty insane score).”
ApprehesiveBat agrees that getting that average score is nearly impossible due to the number of reviews published. “If it follows the previous titles made by Rockstar, the most realistic metacritic score would be between 90 and 95.″ Other users point out that this is highly unlikely, as there are always idiosyncratic media outliers who deviate from the average and score too low.
User reviews and review bombing
The author of the post had to clarify that the question refers only to professional media reviews, as some people misunderstood him to mean user reviews. In this case, it is also difficult to get to 100/100, mainly because of the review bombing campaigns that usually occur with major releases.
GTA VI is planned for this year 2025, although at the moment there is no concrete release date. The game, which will come to PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, is not yet confirmed for PC. However, this is usually the modus operandi of Rockstar, which markets its games on compatibles several months or a year later. Take-Two Interactive has very high expectations for the game, as CEO Zelnick Strauss has admitted.
