An artist draws Dragon Ball’s Goku suffering from The Last of Us’ Cordyceps, bringing the two worlds together

The mixing of universes has always been a recurring theme in popular culture, both by creators and fans. Universes that collide, characters that know each other and even confront each other, or even other characters that, after misunderstandings, come to strike first and ask questions later. This time, we see what happens when worlds as diametrically opposed as Dragon Ball and The Last of Us meet, with more than horrible results.

Dragon Ball x The Last of Us, a mix that we would not expect

The universe created by the recently deceased Akira Toriyama is very special, full of melee combat, and confrontations, among other aspects. The world created by Naughty Dog, for its part, takes us to a post-apocalyptic world, but grounded in our reality, where the most frightening details jump between the cordyceps fungus and the attitudes of the human race to an event of this magnitude. These two worlds are very different, but now they come together thanks to the work of an artist and his imagination.

On this occasion, we highlight the work attributed to the user Angelpi on Pinterest, who shared this strange combination of worlds where he shows this fanart that makes us imagine a Saiyajin zombie apocalypse. As we can see in the image above, we can see a Goku in Super Saiyajin state, but his body is suffering from a cordyceps mutation, just like we saw in The Last of Us. At a point where he is perhaps a bit beyond a Runner, but not as contaminated as a Runner.

Undoubtedly, a disturbing image that makes us think about what would happen to Goku controlled by this fungal infection in such a powerful state? And considering the great appetite of this character, what could happen to all of humanity? Surely, it’s a more terrifying future than that of the Cell Saga, where the Dragon Balls would have no power at all... perhaps wishing for the disappearance of Cordyceps itself.
