Andy Muschietti, director of The Flash, will now direct James Gunn’s Batman reboot

Warner Bros. and DC are now counting on the filmmaker behind The Flash to direct Batman: The Brave and the Bold, as part of the new DCU by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

James Gunn’s new DC universe begins to take shape with the confirmation of filmmakers who will take charge of their next films, starting with Superman Legacy in the summer of 2025 by Gunn himself. Although the new DCU will also have its own Batman alongside the current Robert Pattinson version, and his own universe. So much so, that the already announced film Batman: The Brave and the Bold already has a confirmed director. And it is none less than Andy Muschietti, director of The Flash, a film that hits theaters around the world today, thus ensuring that Muschietti will continue to be linked to DC Studios in an incredibly important line of projects.

The Flash’s director will take care of a new Batman

As reported by Variety, a rumor that had been ringing for a few weeks has been confirmed, pointing to Andy Muschietti being in charge of the new Batman of the DCU after directing The Flash, where he has already had the opportunity to direct two previous versions of the Caped Crusader in the big screen, that is, those of Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck.

It seems that after viewing The Flash, James Gunn and Peter Safran, both responsible for DC Studios were very clear that they wanted the director to take charge of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, the new version of The Dark Knight on which they are already working: “We saw ‘The Flash’; even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan. It’s a magnificent film – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame,” confirmed Gunn and Safran.

When it came time to find a director for ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes. Barbara signed on to produce with us and we were on our way. They’re an extraordinary team, and we couldn’t have better or more inspiring partners as we embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU,” both concluded.

Of course, it will still take time to see this new work by Muschietti in DC, since Batman: The Brave and the Bold will not be released before 2026 or 2027.
