Apex Legends: “Prodigy” update brings the “Future Icons” Event and the new “Arenas: Duels” Mode. All details
New events and key adjustments for some Legends.
While summer may be in full swing in the Wildlands, the Apex Legends universe doesn’t stop. Respawn Entertainment’s “Prodigy” mid-season update introduces the exciting “Future Icons” event, available Tuesday, June 24 through Tuesday, July 15. Get ready for an avalanche of limited-time aesthetic items and the challenging new Arenas: Duels mode.
Arenas: Duels
This revolutionizes the popular mode, offering a 1v1 combat against the clock where up to 30 players can chain random duels in 5-minute matches. In this Apex Legends mode, Legends will have to prove their prowess without relying on skills, healing or excuses. Equipment, spawn points and Legends will be randomized, and skills will be initially disabled so that the real test is your weapon handling and movement. A live scoreboard will allow you to track your performance, offering a competitive edge and a great way to warm up. Later in this division, skills will be reactivated to give the mode a unique twist.
Future Icons
Gear up for victory with new Legendary Skins for Rampart, Octane and the Peacekeeper. Plus, you’ll be able to get epic weapon skins and Wattson’s coveted “Apex Icon” Prestige skin, which includes a matching jump trail. Don’t miss the chance to customize your favorite Apex Legends with these exclusive items.
Tweaks in some Legends
The Apex Legends “Prodigy” update also brings important balance changes for Legends:
- Wattson: the improvement of his “Electrified Gate” mechanic increases the impact of his fences, forcing enemies to approach with more caution. Reducing the recharge time of his Tactical ability speeds up fence placement and decreases the penalty when repositioning, making Wattson an even greater threat on the battlefield.
- Vantage: Vantage’s new tactical enhancements focus on streamlined gameplay and a smoother experience with an upgraded Echo. Spy with its ultimate ability without the laser and the weapon shield upgrade reduce the risk of targeting in advanced scenarios, allowing Vantage players to be more aggressive and accurate.
- Ash: Reducing the base boost recharge time compensates for the removal of the double boost. In addition, swapping his Level 2 and Level 3 upgrades makes the double charge upgrade of his Ultimate ability available earlier in the game, boosting Ash’s team mobility and flanking ability.
Audio enhancements and changes in qualifiers
Apex Legends players will notice clearer in-game sound cues thanks to the decreased priority of allied ziplines and non-threatening enemy footsteps, allowing for better detection of crucial threats. The update also includes changes to Apex Legends ranked matches and more to optimize the gameplay experience.
Apex Legends “Prodigy” is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via EA App, Epic Game Store and Steam.
