Apple clarifies rumors about its foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18

Apple has not changed its plans regarding the foldable iPhone, which will be released alongside the various iPhone 18 models. According to Bloomberg, the new device is set to launch on the usual date, namely this coming September. Sources have denied rumors of potential production issues with the devices.

Speculation about the foldable iPhone arose after Nikkei Asia hinted at the possibility of a delay in one of its articles. Apple’s stock immediately fell 5.1%. According to the report, the company is facing difficulties in the engineering testing phase, which could lead to delays in production and distribution.

Sources acknowledge, however, that there may be limited stock, though they note that Apple’s plan remains to release the new phone alongside the rest of the iPhone lineup (or very shortly thereafter). In any case, Bloomberg points out that the launch is still six months away, so plans could change depending on the situation.

Improvements Compared to Similar Phones

The foldable iPhone will be similar to other competing phones, but Apple’s engineers have sought to go a step further by focusing on improving the display’s quality and durability—a common issue with this type of device. When unfolded horizontally, the screen will have a widescreen orientation, improving visibility when watching videos or playing games. They also plan to update iOS so that apps look more like those on the iPad on this phone.
