Update:

Apple has tested the waters of mixed reality with Apple Vision Pro, which is an active part of the company’s future. The Cupertino-based company’s roadmap is clear, and now even more so following information from a reputable insider. The company will continue to focus on mixed reality through new eyes... or glasses, rather.

The successor to Apple Vision Pro is a pair of smart glasses

Mark Gurman, a journalist at Bloomberg, has revealed that Apple is currently working on two different designs for this type of device: the successor to Apple Vision Pro and a new pair. These are smart glasses similar to those released by Ray-Ban in collaboration with Meta. They will run on the visionOS operating system, already seen in Apple Vision Pro, but adapted to a structure with less data processing power.

With this, Apple seeks to chart a future in which the use of this technology is lighter, more adaptable, and more economical. They prefer to sacrifice computing power in exchange for convenience. This was precisely one of the weak points of their first device. Users have to wear a headset that is not exactly small and must be connected to an external battery. It fits in a pocket, sure, but you have to deal with the cable.

These glasses will be fully compatible with Mac and iPhone. In fact, depending on which device you connect them to, the interface will vary from one type to another to meet the needs of the user. It is known that plans to launch them on the market have been brought forward from the initial plan, which set the date for no less than 2028. Now there is a possibility that we may even see them by the end of 2026.
